Tincknell In The Hot Seat

Harry Tincknell reinforced his position as the leading Formula Renault UK Championship Graduate today, with a consistent, fast performance in testing at Croft, Yorkshire.

The 17-year-old Exeter racer set the fastest time in the final test session of the day, eclipsing championship favourite James Calado by nearly four-tenths of a second. His performance today follows two strong sessions on Wednesday, with Tincknell setting second and fourth-fastest times respectively. Across both days, Harry was within a tenth of the fastest overall time.

Tincknell is currently leading the 2009 Formula Renault UK Graduate Cup, competing for last year’s title-winners CRS Racing, and in four races has already accrued two podium finishes and a pole position.

“Everything’s come together brilliantly at Croft, and the lap times prove that things with CRS Racing are working well,” said the Devon driver. “The hard work is clearly paying off, although I certainly didn’t dream that I would have already experienced a pole and two podium finishes. The aim now is to be consistent and continue the success of the first two weekends; it’s a long way to the end of the season.”

Harry’s next race takes place at Donington Park in Leicestershire, on 17 May.
