Tincknell Takes On Europe
Harry Tincknell travelled to Oschersleben, Germany this weekend, to compete against Europe’s best young racing drivers in the Formula Renault Northern European Cup. The Exeter racer gained valuable experience on a track he’d never seen before the weekend, with two consistent drives.
Tincknell is currently leading the Formula Renault UK Championship Graduate Cup, and was the only driver from the series to make the 750-mile journey to the modern German circuit.
The 17-year-old driver gained two places from the start of the first race, and chased Jedi Racing’s Julian Eisenreich all the way to the finish for 17th. Tincknell held his 17th place grid slot throughout race two, finishing only
eight-tenths of a second behind Jesse Laine. The second race was held in the wet and was extremely slippery, with spray making visibility near-impossible.
“The main objective of the weekend was to gain experience on European tracks; experience I can now take back to the second half of the 2009 UK Championship,” said Tincknell. “Considering that this was my first time at Oschersleben, I’m pleased with the weekend’s progress, and I’m looking forward to getting back to business at Silverstone in a fortnight’s time, to continue defending my Graduate Cup lead.”
The next round of the Formula Renault UK Championship takes place at Silverstone, Northamptonshire, on 5 July.
