Donington Penalty Overturned

Harry Tincknell has won his appeal against the Clerk of the Course’s decision to exclude him from round five of the 2009 Formula Renault UK Championship.

Tincknell crossed the finish line in sixth place at Donington Park on 17 May 2009, but was excluded from receiving points for overzealous defence of a position. However, the court hearing went in favour of Tincknell, whose finishing position and accompanying 18 points have been reinstated. The four penalty points placed on his racing licence have also been revoked.

Tincknell currently leads the Graduate Cup, and the reinstating of the points elevates him to sixth place in the overall championship standings.

“I'm glad that the tribunal saw the incident in the same way that I did,” said Tincknell. “I am very pleased to be reinstated and recover all the points which will help me in my aim to win the Graduate Cup this season.”
