Tincknell Among Racing Elite For Team UK
Harry Tincknell has been chosen for the Motor Sport Association’s (MSA) elite driver development scheme, Team UK. The 18-year-old is one of only 10 of the most promising British racing talents to be selected for this fantastic mentoring opportunity.
Having won the 2009 Formula Renault UK Graduate Cup, Harry caught the attention of those involved in the selection process for the scheme, which has been established to ensure talented drivers receive the support required to get to the top levels of the sport. This year, six drivers from circuit racing and four from the world of rallying were selected.
As part of Team UK, Harry will be given guidance on his in-car performance, fitness and nutrition, as well as receiving advanced sports psychology to equip him mentally for the progression to world championship level competition. Team UK will be operated by the Brabham Performance Clinic, created by former-Formula One driver and 2009 Le Mans 24 Hour winner David Brabham. As the National Race Coach, Brabham, along with his team, will advise Harry in order to assist in his development.
“This is an incredible opportunity for me,” said Harry. “Being selected by the British motorsport governing body is a real honour, especially as I’m one of only six race drivers. To be able to have another person, such as David Brabham, to provide advice is fantastic. I’m also really looking forward to having the support of his team and learning from their experience in different areas of driver development and training.”
“I knew Harry was someone that we would be watching as he made his way through the 2009 season,” said Brabham. “I’ve been involved in the motorsport business for a long time, and you learn how drivers take a corner, position the car and accelerate, so you get a pretty quick sense of who could go a long way. I saw Harry race last year, and its not just his on-track performance but also the way he presents himself off-track that shows he has that bit extra.”
